Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sounded as if she is considering another bid for the Presidency in 2020. Clinton gave campaign-like Speech on Friday at the American Federation of Teachers conference in Pittsburgh. Pennsylvania is a key swing state in Presidential elections.
The former nominee of the Democratic Party for the 2016 Presidential Election spent a great deal of time hammering President Donald Trump for his temporary enforcement of a policy which separates children from their parents who immigrated to the U.S. illegally.
Clinton also zoned in on the Republican campaigns to repeal and replace Obamacare and te 2017 tax reform bill. she labeled it a giveaway to the wealthy and the corporate-interest-groups.
Clinton kicked off the speech claiming the nation is in the “front-lines” of some of the most urgent fights for “our nation’s future”.
“We have to gear up again, because the challenges we face now are truly unlike any that we’ve seen for quite some time,” Clinton said. Adding: “We though we had won (but) now the pressure and forces against progress are stronger than ever. They control our Government and they are determined to have their way.”
She further said that she was very grateful for the Americans support during her 2016 campaign, and that she was even more grateful that they continue to support the values she shares with them.
“I believe with all my heart that the test of any society is how we treat the most vulnerable among us, particularly our youngest, our oldest, our people with disabilities, and right now, my friends, our country is failing that test. We have never seen such organized cruelty, disdain and contempt for those values.
“People used to hide the way they felt. They wouldn’t come right out and say what they were thinking, which was good, that’s part of the process of civilization. But boy, not today. Over the last 18 month, this administration has tried to rip away health coverage for millions and to end coverage to people with pre-existing conditions and given tax cuts to the wealthiest few, and they have paid for them on the backs of children and working families.
“They have gutted funding for public schools and universities. They have rolled back protections against discrimination for students. Unimaginably they have ripped children away from their parents.
“The net result is that they are trying to rip the heart out of America. They want to turn us into transactional units where I get this and you get that. It’s like a man eat man, woman eat woman society. They want to turn us against each other. They want to divide and conquer.”
Clinton accused President Donald Trump of “trying to rip the heart out of America.”
Clinton has not made a formal announcement that she will not run in a Presidential campaign again. However, Democratic voters appear open to the Clinton bid in 2020.
The former Secretary of State wrote a book “What Happened”, about her experience of running for the 2016 Presidential Election against Donald Trump. In the book she notably said that she was done with being a Presidential candidate.
Clinton added that she would continue to speak out on the causes she cares about, would campaign for other Democratic candidates and do whatever she can to build the infrastructure the Democrats need to succeed.
